How do I clear my browser's cache?

If your browser hangs or freezes frequently, it may help to clear your browser's cache. The cache is the memory your browser uses to store images of the web pages that you have visited. Storing those images lets your browser load those same pages more quickly the next time you visit them. To manually clear your browser cache, follow the directions below:

Internet Explorer:

  1. On the Internet Explorer Tools menu.
  2. Click Internet Options.
  3. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab.
  4. On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section.
  5. Click the Delete Files button. This will delete all the files that are currently stored in your cache.
  6. Click OK, and then click OK again.

Mac OS X - Safari

  1. Open your web browser (make sure it is selected)
  2. Click on Safari in the menu bar and choose Empty Cache
  3. Click on Empty

Netscape 7.x for Windows and Macintosh

  1. From the Edit menu
  2. Select Preferences In the Category area, double click Advanced.
  3. Click Cache.
  4. Click the Clear Cache button.
  5. Click the OK button at the bottom of the Preferences box.
  6. Close and restart your browser.
